McKay Wenger wins FALS Cup in thriller at Fairbury Speedway

After losing Friday’s event at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) to Mother Nature, McKay Wenger made the short trip to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) on Saturday afternoon to enter his Nutrien Ag Solutions No. 42 Late Model into battle. Drawing 28 cars, Wenger clocked in sixth fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race. Rolling off sixth for the FALS Cup feature, McKay shot up to third early and began the three-wide battle for the lead with Ryan Unzicker and Mike Spatola. After Unzicker was caught in a tangle, Wenger weaved underneath Spatola’s slider on the final corner to capture his sixth win of the season and a $2,500 prize. He took the checkers ahead of Spatola, Kevin Weaver, Ryan Vanderveen, and Rob Mayea.
