McKay Wenger suffers flat while leading PDC prelim at Fairbury
McKay Wenger was one of 63 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries amassed at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) on Friday afternoon for the 33rd running of the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend presented by Bank of Pontiac.
With showdown features on Friday kicking off the two-day event, McKay’s third-fastest qualifying lap in his 31-car group positioned him on the front row for his prelim. Inheriting the lead later after the front-runner lost a tire, Wenger suffered a flat right-rear tire while challenging for the $5,000 payday that forced him into the infield hot-pit. He salvaged a 10th-place finish.
Pinned on the fourth row of his B-Main on Saturday for another shot at the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic, Wenger failed to qualify for the finale with a ninth-place outing.
